    Why DO you run?
If you are like my friend Dave Crowe, it is for the medal.
Dave has run over 90 marathons in 10 different states and in Ontario
He has run the Disney “Goofy” in Florida twice.
During his runs he has met iconic runners , such as Bart Yasso, Mark Bravo, Robert Kraft “the Raven” and Pam Reed.
He was presented with a Running Ambassador Award from the 2009 Little Rock Arkansas Marathon.
Although Dave always ran, his first organized running event was at the 2004 Achilles St. Patrick’s Day 5k.
He was hooked on races, because from there he ran a 10 km, half marathon and marathon –all in the same year
And he found out that he could get hardware for his efforts.
Since that day 8 years ago, he has completed over 90 marathons, 50 half marathons, thirteen 50 K events ….but only if there is a medal.
However, if not racing, he does give back to the running community by volunteering at local races.

Here is a picture of him with his humungous medal from the Little Rock Marathon. Dave is on the left. The Razorback Hog is famous in Little Rock.

His two favourite races are Little Rock and Big Sur
His favourite medal is Little Rock.

As you may have guessed by now he plans to run his 100th marathon in Little Rock in 2013.

Maybe I will have to run that one with him …but just for the medal.

    1. My family and I met Dave at the 2010 Space Coast Marathon in Cocoa Beach, FL. As you noted in your article Dave is a great ambassador for the sport of running. Dave just spent the weekend with us in Georgia as we introduced him to the heat, hills & humidity of Atlanta at the Publix Georgia marathon for his 90th. My family and I plan to join him in Little Rock for his 100th.

    2. Glad to see that you are achieving your goal. Dave is also known as the “Sexy Thoroughbred Canadian”. He is truly a great ambassador for running. Run, Dave, Run !

    3. If you don’t know David Crowe, you’ll meet him one of these days at a race near you. He seems to know everyone, and he’s usually the one coming in from out of town. We’ll be racing with Dave (and I think George too) next year in Little Rock. Can’t wait! But then again, perhaps we could find a nice race in Canada before winter sets in again.

    4. David Crowe is a running machine! Little Rock 2012 was our 1st full marathon, thaxs to Dave, (we got that big medal to prove it) he has always encouraged us with running tips , training techniques, hydration etc. Thank You Dave! We have hosted Dave & some of his Canadian friends, for many Air Force Marathons, Dayton,Ohio. Dave is also the type of man who steps up to the plate and helps out like; 2008 Air Force Marathon, 4:00 A.M. , Dave starts generators during week long poweroutage, so we could get feed & ready for race. Another year Dave, Carol & Steve dug potatoes, pick beans& tomatoes for our post race dinner. Daves reply, What a great meal . Hey! Another short story- Dave likes to sunbathe but not share his blanket with our pet pig ,LULU . Dave is a real Trooper & Our Friend. Tim & Peggy
